Meet Georgina…

Every time I visit Georgina’s blog, I usually find myself perusing for quite some time. She has one of the cutest lifestyle blogs out there with a voice that unapologetically hers. I love her fresh ideas on exercise, delicious meals, home decor, beauty and a personal insight to the gal behind the blog. Oh and her beautifully written stories will leave you wanting more. Literally..
How did you decide to start blogging?
I have always had a love for writing, fashion, beauty, food, health & fitness (and lots to say about all 6.) After playing with the idea of creating a blog for literally months, I took the plunge on a snow day I had during my sophomore year of undergrad. It was titled “How to Most Perfectly Spend Your Snow Day.” (Notes on Lifestyle by Georgina)
What have you learned about yourself through blogging?

That I am braver than I think. Each risk I take with my writing has been scary, but has been a reward. Your competition can be your best resource and also instigate (unintentionally) the greatest thoughts of doubt and insecurity. I AM a talented writer and people will indeed pay me to do so which is all I ever dreamt of.
What are 5 things you absolutely cannot live without?
Besides the obvious family/food/shelter/air etc….
1.My Health Concoction: Supplements (2000mg of Vitamin D during the winter, Calcium, Vitamin C, Omega 3’s, EBoost prior to a workout if I feel a bit tired, My Detox water containing fresh lemon, lime, mint sprigs and sliced cucumber!)
2.My iPad for photos, blogging, studying, reading, cooking (literally I have an app for everything,) corresponding with brand and PR reps, approving comments, typing interview notes, communicating with family near and far and tracking exercise and nutrition.
3. Brow pencil: I take great care of my skin so if pressed for time the one thing I don’t skimp on is making sure my brows look perfect as they frame my face.
4. Music: essential during workouts, tuning out loud people sitting next to me at a coffee shop or while getting ready before a night out.
5. A multi-purpose argan or marula oil. Necessary for my ever-dry scalp it creates a lustrous shine in my hair, can triple as moisturizer on the go with a lovely light scent if I’ve forgotten to spritz that day.

What three adjectives would you use to describe you/your style?
    Feminine, Unpredictable and Fun.

If you could have dinner with any three people dead or alive who would you choose?
    1. Jean-Dominque Bauby the author of my favorite memoir “The Diving Bell and the Butterfly.” He lived an extraordinary life that helped me change my way of thinking and everytime I get to the last page, I am in tears.
    2. Nelson Lande: my favorite Philosophy professor who constantly inspired me a great deal during my undergraduate studies. His mind is astounding and he is incredibly witty!
    3. First Class Nicolas Checque of Monroeville, Pa – a young man that was part of Seal Team 6 for eight years (he was only 28 when he was killed.) He was everything I admire in a person, humble, brave and selfless. I have a deep appreciation for and interest in all of our service members. Learning more about their experiences firsthand would be a dream.
What advice would you give to someone wanting to start a blog/lifestyle blog?
Be yourself. This cannot be stressed enough. Sticking with what you know and your authentic voice will ensure your blog the most success possible. Imitating someone will render you limited and second best.
Do not be discouraged. Gaining followers takes a lot of time, energy, networking and editing (read through post multiple times, your blog is your online portfolio for whomever is viewing it. You never know who that may be and what opportunities will come of it.)
Have fun and the moment that fun ceases, re-evaluate if you want to continue blog. Do not explain yourself if you feel like you need a little “blog break.”
