Bangkok Travel Diary

Having stayed three nights  and two full days in Bangkok, I can honestly say I thoroughly enjoyed my time in Bangkok

We visited Wat Pho- The Temple of the Reclining Buddha. We got to Wat Pho around 9:30ish and started to get really busy. If you want to go when its less crowded, the sooner the better. It costs 100 Thai Baht to gain entry and the temple was absolutely breath taking.

The Grand Palace- The palace is HUGE and there’s lots of ground to cover and it’s very picturesque. I personally don’t like too many people in the background of my photos, so going super early is a must if you want to avoid crowds. It cost 500 baht to enter. Because it’s a temple, you want to be moderately dressed. Dress at least knee length or below and if you must wear a top with no sleeves, wear a jacket like I did.

The Floating Market was probably one of my favorite activites while in Bangkok. It’s pretty far, but the concierge at the hotel was able to get us a cab driver for 6 hours. It took about two hours each way and two hours to go through the market. We paid the driver 2000 baht to drive us and wait for us; a total of 6 hours for about 65 dollars. Super affordable, right? The Floating Market itself cost 2000 baht. I bought fresh coconut and some bracelets at the market.

Chinatown-I think we couldve maybe explored chinatown a bit more but our feet started to hurt. We did get authentic Thai massages in Chinatown, and it was nothing like I’ve experienced. The masseuse will have you change into a light shirt and pants, and massage you with those on. She sat on the table and climbed on me during the massage. It was different but I couldn’t say I didn’t feel refreshed afterwards.

Siam Center/Siam Paragon- This was a great shopping mall. It was so hard not to shop at this mall. Siam Center sold a lot of street fashion, very cute and trendy pieces, and Siam Paragon more so had higher end stores like Gucci etc.

Chatuchka Market- this may very well have been my favorite place/acitivity in Bangkok. It’s a huge outdoor weekend market that almost resembles the farmer’s market but 3000 times better. I purchased some blue and white bowls at the market and ate a bunch while we perused the market. I purchased 4 blue and white bowls for 260 baht which is about 8-9 USD.

Bangkok was a great time. The people are so nice, so accommodating, respectful, and I could go on and on about the food
