When the opportunity presented itself to work with JCP here on the blog, it was a no brainer. I’ve been shopping at JCP for ages. In fact, when my family moved to the states 16 years ago, mom would dress me in cute Liz Claiborne matching pant suits. I remember feeling ever so grown. LOL!
Choosing a look from the JCPenney/Liz Claiborne 40th anniversary collection wasn’t all too easy because there were a lot of things I wanted. I landed on this bordeaux (faux) leather skirt, which is perfect for fall weather. Blue’s my absolute favorite color, and I love the striped blue tee paired with the bordeaux color. I don’t get to dress up everyday in my social work job, but on days where I have important meetings, conferences, court hearings, I like to kick things up a notch and this was the perfect fall look. And it was under 50 dollars, can’t beat affordability and fashionable. I love that the collection has a lot of pieces you can mix and match for a casual or dressy look. My outfit speaks to Liz Claiborne’s “Effortless Utility for busy, working women”. Check out the rest of the collection and discover your Liz Style HERE which is exclusive to JCPenney.

I also had the opportunity to have my hair styled at the JCPenney Salon.  Some of you may not be aware that JCP offers salon services. I was skeptical because I didn’t know if they’d be able to do my hair texture. A blow out would’ve been the easier choice, but I’m refraining from using hot tools right now, and I wanted a style that I couldn’t do at home easily.
I arrived at the salon after work one day having brought my own shampoo, and conditioner because I wasn’t sure what they would be using on my hair. After talking with my stylist Krista about my attempt to refrain from heat styling and concerns about whether they’d know how to work with my textured hair.  Krista was very transparent in sharing that she had not done my textured hair type before. She answered questions that I had, and I ended up not using my own products after all. She used Mizani products on my hair that didn’t alter my curl pattern. I settled on Bantu Knots and I’m so completely in awe by them. She did such a great job, I’ll definitely see her again. It’s been raining way too much for my liking lately, so I kept the knots in for 4 days. It ended up being a bit frizzy after I unraveled due to the weather, but the knots were held up pretty good, which was a nice break from playing with the fro.

Have you been to the JCPenney Salon?
