Omaha Weekend Recap

Last year the Visit Omaha invited me to attend their Fashion Week, and I wasn’t able to make it as my best friend was getting married that weekend. Fast forward to this year when I got the opportunity to visit Omaha, I was excited because a, I’ve never been to Omaha, and b, it’s been 4 years since my last solo trip to Paris.

Omaha is only a 5-6 hour drive from minneapolis. I chose to fly because it takes 40 minutes and that’s much better than 6 hours of transportation. LOL.

I have my Omaha recap on my instragram highlight, so I highly recommend you check it out for more visuals. But, overall I had an AMAZING time in Omaha. I stayed at the Hilton downtown. I love the proximity to the airport and to a lot of other attractions.  Their shuttle bus pretty much took me around all weekend.

Places I ate because we all know I am all about the food:

I love breakfast food so when I found out about Early Bird, I knew I had to stop in there. I mean the nutella toast was so good, it was almost bad.

Jazz- I’ve been craving southern food so I went to Jazz and ordered some catfish nuggets and seafood pasta. It was so good, I could barely finish my meal.

Blue sushi restaurant in Old Market district was amazing. I ordered two sushi rolls for dinner and had a very nice light and fruity drink.

Shopping- Because I couldn’t go to Omaha without checking out their malls, I got a chance to go to Westroads Mall. The server at Early Bird recommended Westroads as I wanted to get a pedicure.  I picked up a few things from H&M, Forever 21 I’ll be wearing on my birthday trip next month.

Old Market Entertainment District is amazing. It’s a great place to people watch, hangout with girlfriends, go on a date or even hang solo. So many shops, restaurants and people, it’s hard to feel alone at Old Market District.

I picked up a vintage ring from a store I don’t remember now. I also bought a couple of rings from Pretty in Patina. They have the cutest dresses. They carry Chanel, balenceiaga and other designer stuff that I was sad to leave behind. LOL

Night life: I’m not a huge night life person but I wanted to do something different so I went to the Omaha Lounge. A shuttle driver from The Hilton mentioned it to me. They have Jazz on Saturdays from 8:30-11:30 pm. I don’t listen to Jazz very often but I think I need to do that often.

I’m not a huge animal person, but I made my way to the zoo and aquarium and it was SO huge. I love how busy it was. Something fun especially if you have children.

Quite a few people asked me how come I wasn’t afraid of being lonely by traveling by myself. I think it’s possible to be alone and not be lonely. I’ve been in situations where I’ve been surrounded by people and felt lonely, so its very possible to be alone and not be lonely. The only way to avoid being lonely is to embrace it. What’s the worst that could happen? You may end up finding out how strong and capable you are when you embrace solo adventures.

I left Omaha feeling refreshed and alive. Seeing how it’s only a short flight from Minneapolis, its a great getaway if you need some R & R.  Definitely recommend a visit if you can.
