Letter to 2016

Dear Twenty Sixteen,
What a year you’ve been! Let me be the first one to tell you that you were far from the quintessential year for me, in case you didn’t know. Over all, I really count it all joy. In as much as you had a plethora of HIGHS, you were also tough, and you kicked butt!

Thank you for the great memories, travels, and friends made in Italy, New Orleans, Dallas, Miami, & New York. I’ll always cherish those. In you, I made some strides in my professional life, grew my blog, worked with some amazing brands, made new friends, (sorry Drake), connected with old friends, I even went on a few dates. Talk about getting me out of my comfort zone. You’ve taught me that it’s okay to wait, you’ve taught me not to settle, and most importantly you’ve taught me how to walk away from situations that didn’t serve me no matter how appealing it looked on the outside. You also taught me how to be at peace with letting go of friendships that no longer served me.

You also challenged my faith, and boy did I dislike you for it. Those challenges didn’t come until the last quarter of the year, and whatever lessons you were trying to teach me, I embrace it. I clung to God’s promises like crazy and because of that I’m truly thankful. Truly thankful that when amazing things happen, I’ve conditioned my mind to immediately thank God, and when I face obstacles, I’m reminded that God’s my only constant. Thank you for teaching me not to rely on myself, or my mother, and to never cease in praying.

In light of keeping it honest, I’ll say some years have been a blur, but I can honestly say that I will never forget you. I’m grateful I got to experience you. Thanks for having me.
