How I prep my curls for a blow out

How I prep my curls for a blow out,How I prep my curls for a blow out,I had a really bad experience getting a blow out at a dominican salon in New York last year during fashion week, that left me with a lot of fear surrounding using heat on my hair.

My ends suffered some damage due to color, and that salon experience lead me to cut a good amount of my hair in May. My hair needed it though. I knew I’d have to go in a few months later and cut the rest of the damaged parts, and three months later here we are.

I opted to cut my natural hair straight, which means I had to use heat in some capacity.

Here’s what I did:

Doing a Deep Condition treatment or protein treatment helps to strengthen the bonds in the hair because heat breaks down the bonds in the hair. The stronger your hair is the better it will be at withstanding heat.  I used the Heutiful Deep Repair Treatment Masque. I also used the Creme of Nature Moisturizing Milk Masque. For extra love to my hair, I’ll sometimes use the aphogee two minute reconstructor. I highly recommend it.

Heat Protectant- If you’re using heat at home, make sure you’re using heat protectant. If you’re at the salon, make sure your stylist is using a heat protectant. No compromises about that. And even if you are using heat protectant, make sure to use hot tools on moderate heat.

I had to remind myself that after using heat, it takes a few washes for my hair to completely revert to it’s curly state. So try not to freak out like I did after the first wash.
